In 1995 Swedish magazine VeckoRevyn did a retrospective issue celebrating its 60 anniversary. Lots of articles and pictures of times gone by. Among them a wonderful pic of 1-year-old Lena. They didn't have the original photo, so they made a copy of the pic in the old magazine which explains the low quality.

What the pic shows is 1-year-old Lena seeing chickens for (probably) the first time. Behind her is father Stig, mother Britta and brother Mats. Caption translation:

"When Lena talks with the chickens she says klykk-klykk-pippi-klykk. I don't know what that means, but the chickens sound almost the same."

This snippet is from the Swedish magazine Damernas Värld (Women's World), issue March 20th 1974, around the time of the Miss Sweden contest, although this article is not connected to that. The article itself is a mix of dishes of food and celebrities.

A New Olin on the Stage

The drama school in Stockholm has just finished their auditions. Among the names on the list of approvals is Lena Olin, the 21 year old daughter of the radio executive Stig Olin. Sister to Mats Olin, he who once assured us that "I Believe in the Summer".

Lena has never stood on a stage or had a part in any movie. She has however been Miss Scandinavia and runner up in the Miss Sweden pageant in 1974.

But she doesn't want to talk about all that. Not today. She is just as reserved about the forthcoming education.

There were twelve of us that made into the drama school, she says over the phone from Falsterbo, where she has just enjoyed a couple of days vacation.

It doesn't feel right that I get all the attention, simply because I'm a so called celebrity child. The other pupils have worked just as hard to pass the auditions.

Lena auditioned unsuccessfully twice before, but she still wouldn't give up hope. She was determined to become an actress.

This summer Lena will work as a hospital orderly to get to knew different kinds of people, which is important if you want to be able to portray them on scene.

To make it third time lucky could almost count as a merit. It took that many tries for both Jarl Kulle and Inga Tidblad. If that is a hint of what's to come.

Theodor Kallifatides made quite a discovery when he found 24 year old Lena Olin. She is making her debut in his film "Kärleken" which is now in production.

Lena is the daughter of Stig Olin and Britta Holmberg, both with a history in the movie business. Lena has studied at drama school and been touring with Parkteatern (The Open Air Theater).

She enjoys filming and hopes there are more parts in store for her. The offers will certainly come because Lena is both beautiful and talented.

Lena Olin, Stig Olin's daughter, is currently enjoying success in the play "The Alchemist" at the Dramatic Theatre in Stockholm. Privately Lena prefers to dress causally. Here in an unbuttoned cotton shirt with rolled up sleeves, jeans and brown suede fringe boots. On her wrist is the mandatory Rolex watch and a thin golden bracelet. Gold necklaces, dangling gold earrings and instead of a handbag a big shiny arm bag.

Translation tidbit: The Swedish word mocca is suede in English. It comes from the French word for Swede.

Lena has wind beneath her wings

Lately the actress Lena Olin has been shuttling back and forth between Paris and Stockholm with her son Frans August. They haven't seen much of Paris yet but there is usually time for a walk during the lunch break.

Lena has one of the lead roles in "The Unbearable Lightness of Being".
A $10 million American production.

Lena Olin & Lasse Hallström - The New Couple

Lena Olin and Lasse Hallström are said to be the spring's hottest love couple. Even if they don't want to speak about their romance in public, people are gossiping about them.

About them having deep conversations in small intimate restaurants, about them going on walks together and about their presence on different celebrity events.

Sometimes they hide their love, sometimes they show up in public on premieres and parties. These days they are both in New York on a Nordic movie festival.

When the movie "Havana" was released in Sweden, the leading lady Lena Olin showed up together with the director of the movie, Sydney Pollack. There wasn't that much rumoring about their romance, and that was probably not the movie company's intention. It was only a PR thing.

Lena Olin has been alone after separating from her son's, August's, father, Örjan Ramberg. Lasse Hallström has been married once, to Malou Hallström, but has now lived for a couple of years with Lollo Almström, a copy of Malou.

Of course, the beautiful movie couple Lena and Lasse have a lot of interests and points of contact in common. They have both been working in the USA for the past years. But right now they are showing their romance, here in their hometown Stockholm.

Addition to the Olin-Hallström family: Lena and Lasse had a girl

It's a girl! In the middle of the early summer's first heatwave Lena Olin, 40, and 49 year old husband Lasse Hallström had their first child. According to Svensk Damtidning everything went well and both mother and child are doing great.

Lena Olin and Lasse Hallström met in spring 1991 during the Swedish premiere of Lena's "Havana". And it continued; Lasse called and invited to an romantic dinner in a restaurant. They got married secretly in March last year in the almost empty Oscarskyrkan in Stockholm.

And the passion is still there: I'm so damned in love I'm going crazy! Lasse Hallström moaned last year.

Lena has son August, 8, from a previous relationship with actor Örjan Ramberg. Lasse Hallström has son Johan, 19, together with TV-producer Malou Hallström.

She moves to Skåne with husband and kids: Lena Olin gets away from the big city life

Sweden's only real movie star, Lena Olin, is planning to get away from the big city life and move to the countryside. She plans to build her dream house on a lot in the middle of Falsterbo, a tiny idyll in Skåne. Far away from all the sparkling cocktail parties. Here she wants to be able to rest after hard Hollywood productions.

It's not known if the home is planned to be the permanent centre in hers and husband Lasse Hallström's life. But maybe it'll be a perfect place to grow up in for nine year old August and his little sister Tora Maria Elin.

Then there's also grandma and grandpa who both have a summer house in Falsterbo, on safe distance to help babysitting if needed. Lena herself knows the area very well. She spent all her childhood summers in the seaside resort in the south part of Skåne.

The lot Lena bought a few months ago is placed embedded in leafy greenery and with the sea just around the corner. There's actually a tiny yellow summer house there. But it's hard to believe that Lena will take advantages of that. Because the house has already seen its best days and is hardly something for a Hollywood star and new mother.

We love Sweden and we quite simply must come here in the Summer. You can't compare it to USA, says Lena.

What's going on over there?

We're going to do a film together, "Love Bombing" based on the Dramaten play. Then I have a couple of TV projects that I unfortunately can't talk about, says Lasse.
